Shae poked their head into the guest room a few minutes after Ethan had passed out with his head on my chest and an arm slung over my waist. They smiled fondly at our sleeping Omega and came fully into the room. One hand held water bottles and the other had a plate of sandwiches. My stomach growled loudly, and Shae laughed, then looked at Ethan, who hadn’t even stirred at the noises.

“He’s out, Shae. Jade has been blowing up my phone, and he hasn’t moved.”

“That’s pretty normal for an Omega after a heat or even a spike. And since you’ve got this well in hand, I’m going to go find Miles and maybe I can get something in hand too.”

They waggled their brows at me, making me laugh under my breath. Shae had always kind of naturally filled the role of an Omega for our pack, but I’d never realized just how much they took care of all of us. They had known I needed to be alone with Ethan, at least that first time, and just bowed out.

“Thanks for earlier. Letting me be with him like that, I mean.”

“Don’t mention it, Tough Guy.”

As they backed out of the room, my phone pinged with what I was sure was another message from Jade. I knew most of her distance was for Trevor’s sake, and that, if he hadn’t been so butthurt about Omegas, Jade would have been in this room with us to help Ethan.

Jade: I’m coming home soon, but Pack Rothchild is definitely dirty. Need more time to figure out how dirty, but there won’t be any trouble keeping them away from Ethan.
